Initially I thought that was the case too, but I looked at the motherboard and it didn't have any onboard video and I saw the connector was hooked up to the videocard.
This was such a weird case of hardware failure, but my take on things was that a capacitor or some pathway on the PCB board was bad ...

[Venting] EVGA Video card problems
Sorry guys... just needed to vent. Soo pissed off right now. I haven't bought new hardware in a while and my videocard fan started to go, I thought it would be a great time to get a new videocard (it gave me enough of a push to finally get rid of my 8800GT). So I went and did some research and found ...

512 will be slow be useable. 2gb is actually what I would recommend for Win XP, things will run much smoother.
BTW I agree with YOS, its most likely the spare drive. Usually when thigns hang or slow down, it isn't the ram / processor that's bad. Could be some bad sectors on the drive causing it to ...

Do some basic mobo checks:
-Look for bad caps on the board (Usually boards that sudddenly stop working can be attributed to blown caps, which lead to inconsistent posting).
If this above isn't the case and he can't get the system to post (but just power on), try pulling the CMOS battery from the ...

Raiding two different kinds of drives isn't recommended. I've tried it in the past and I've found that software RAID works ok in terms of buillding larger partitions (if that's what ur going for) but ur probably trying to go for speed, in which case I'd have to say that you'd be better off doing ...

Couple pointers:
1.) Check the layout in the case to see if there are any metal support pegs that are making contact with the motherboard. You may have some unecessary pegs that could be causing your problem.
2.) (*Most likely culprit*) If you are able to boot the computer and install windows but ...

If its a driver upgrade; basically it means that you need to update the software that controls / runs your videocard. You should find out the specifications for your computer and identify what company / make & model videcard you have. Most companies (HP, Compaq, Nvidia, ATI) have straight forward ...

Question: Windows Server 2008 Firewall Open/Close IP range
Hey everyone,
I had a question regarding Windows Server 2008 Firewall. I've noticed it is a bit more complex and allows for some customization in terms of allowing and blocking incoming data. Is it possible to setup the Windows firewall to allow only a certain range of IP address to access the ...

My first guess would have been to tell you to change your ethernet cable, but since you've tested it with your laptop and it is stable there, my guess would probably be your computer's ethernet connection. It may be a driver issue or some sort of negotiation issue. You should try this:
1.) Identify ...

the ram will run at whatever speed you tell it to. Even if you buy ddr2-800 and put it into your system, it'll still run at ddr2-667 for the front side bus. The only reason you would want to remove the other piece of ram is because you are having stability issues with it.

Its most likely not the transistors. The best way to test if they are making noise it to unplug the fan for a short period (like 10 seconds) and power on the system to see if you hear the noise. And yes they are quite dangerous if they explode. As for the RMA, like I said earlier, it is just a fan ...
