I moved everything off my second drive and removed it to have just the one master drive and the DVD burner, each a master on it's own IDE. Burned a DVD and I still lose the WiFi. I was looking at the root hub info and it says my adapter needs 500 mA to function. Is 500 mA a limit for all root hubs ...

I think you might be on the right track with the Hub. The Shuttle came with 2 back and 2 front USB's but I also added on two more to bring that to 6. the two front I keep open for cameras and MP3 players but the back have the cable for my Treo, which sometimes won't sync, and two printers, one of ...

DVD burner dropping my WiFi connection?
I have a NEC 16x DVD-RW in a Shuttle SK41g with 2 hard drives inside. I also have a USB 802.11b adapter.
The problem is that whenever I rip or write a DVD I lose my connection and can't establish a new connection with my router until the disk spins down. But when playing DVD movies or reading data ...

DVD burner slowing down
I have a NEC 2500A. It's 8x and until recently it has taken about 8-12 minutes to write a DVD. Now it's taking almost 30 minutes. I do have the latest firmware installed. The only thing different is my second HD was starting to fail and that is where I had my files that I was burning stored. The old ...

All of a sudden my AIM will log off and I'll need to sign on. I think it's a power saving issue but I can't find where to disable it.

Image preview in XP?
Is there a way to enable in Windows Explorer in XP the image preview pane that was found in 2000? I really liked being able to view images without opening them and also movies and music.

Reboot problem
Within the past few days whenever I restart my computer it hangs up and will not reset or power down. I then try to switch off the power supply for a few minutes and then power back up but it will not boot. I don't even get as far as the Voodoo BIOS loading. Now if I take the side out the case and ...

The problem seems to be you are usuing just a hub instead of a router. When you say you are suing two different IP's are these given to you by COmcast meaning you are paying for two seperate IP's? If that is the case then Comcast should be more cooperative in helping you. I would still recommend ...

Does anyone know how to get rid of this? Somehow this thing got installed on my computer at home and at work. Comcast and tiered pricing
Has anyone heard anything about Comcast maybe introducing a tiered pricing plan? I like the speed of cable but the always on feature is what I really like and if getting my speeds cut in half meant dropping from $50 to $25 I'd do it in a heart beat.

I get this error from time to time that WUAUBOOT.exe can't initialize and I have no idea what it does. It seems to only happen when I'm running Kazaa. I use Adaware and it doesn't find any spyware but Zone Alarm says it's trying to contact the internet. Anyone know what this thing does?

Anyone know a good, FREE partition manager for Win2K? I was usuing Partition Resizer in 98 and ME but since I put 2K on it won't work because it's DOS based. I need to free up about 3 gigs to put Linux on but don't want to pay to do it.

Use Winamp, select the wave out plugin and make sure you don't have shuffle on. It will convert your MP3's to wav. But I don't see why you'd want to, the sound would still be same as the MP3 since you can't backward decompress and almost all cd burning programs now let you use MP3's as the source ...
