Linksys router problem
Linksys router problem
For the last couple days I have been losing contact with my router. It's th eold plain 1 port Linksys and the 1.44.2 firmware. This problem really has not started until I redid my system and installed XP Home as my OS. Anyone have problems with XP Home and a Linksys losing contact? If I unplug it and plug it back in it connects to the LAN and everything is back to normal. My connection suually lasts for about an hour or so before it craps out.

Have you checked the lease on your IP address it sounds like it is trying to renew the lease which will account for fix when you reset. Next time it happens double click on your Lan connection then support tab.
First check to see when your IP lease expires if it is sometime soon then there is your problem it should be in the 2038 range.
To fix the problem try pressing the fix button if this works then its your broadband suppliers fault contact them and make hell.
If it is an IP problem which I suspect it is changing to Wirless connection will not help

Well, I'm back to square one again. I checked my status and it had my lease expriring every 24 hours from the router. So I am going to see if I disconnect the router and just use the XP firewall and see what happens. It has my IP good for a week like the router usually did. Must be some error between XP and my router. I'm probably going to get the Netgear 802.11b wireless router since I set my in-laws up with that and they are having no issues with it. If AIM is still on when I get home from work at least I know it was the router.
In your router's setup page click on the DHCP tab then change the Client Lease Time from 0 to 10080 minutes. This will increase the lease from 24 hours to 7 days.
