We should take a look at the speed of the Wireless network Connection.


Your Wireless network is only 11Mbit/second. Thats a lot like 10 Mbit/sec wired networks. On a 10 Mbit connection, It should take about 30 minutes to transfer a CD with 750 Mbytes of files on it.

How slow is it?

If you are reaching your advertised speed that you are paying for, then the answer would be no. You're already there, but you might be able to tweak for a more reliable connection when transfering at or near your speed caps.

Yeah, if your copper is split up through a Slick 96, then youre only going to get IDSL.

Your right, for ISDN Speed at about 150 a month for most IDSL setups, It's really stupid to go that route.

If you can't access the site by typing in the URL, you will NOT be able to ping the URL either.

If your DNS server for some reason does not have the URL translation information for the University, maybe the University had changed IP addresses through out the school and the new DNS IP addresses ...

There is a satelite broadband in the UK,
I think it is Bigpond Internet Service, but I don't remember for sure.
All I know is that I had to contact them once when one of their satellite customers was trying to hack into my computer's ports.

The Blue and Blue w/ White wire pair is your first phone line. And it does need to be wired to the red and green (the center two pins) on the wall jack.

There is nothing more to do with it.
If you had a second line you would have the Orange pair wired to yellow and black or the same jack dual phone ...

Yes.

If your upload speed cap is reached and maintained by outbound traffic.
Then all your inbound traffic will be brought to a standstill, somewhere around the speed of your outbound cap or slower.

This happens because your requests and acknowledgements for new data get caught up in the traffic ...

A signal strength of 0.0 db is perfect. get a negative number down to -15db should work. If you put an amplifier on that line you are probably going to over modulate the incoming signal and actually cause you problems.

then hit the refresh button. You will see your speeds skyrocket, because the test data has been "cached" in your browser for all subsequent tests after the first one.
