hola...

I haven't been online for a while before the past week or or so and I've done a reformat in that long period and my connection seems horrid. It's slow in games, even loading up the SG homepage was slow. I'm on 1mbit/256 cable connection, through an STB routed through linksys. Never used to have problems. Here's my Analyzer results:

Ur settings look find do you have static routes set on the computers http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=177 that will help ya do it if you havent already also try turning the modem off then router then computers turn modem on wait a couple minutes then router then computer Scan for spyware there is a one program called ad aware in read1st you could download.

On the router goto 192.168.1.1 or whatever routers ip is then goto advanced and make sure mtu is enabled to 1500 then block wan request disabled.

thanks... yeah done all of that. The router is set to 1500 mtu, the computer's also set to 1500 tooo as you can see in the analyser results. I can't think of anything else. Happens regardless of which web browser I use [mozilla/ie] and games aren't so hot. It's weird. I've used AA6 and spybot.... and removed the small amount of stuff that was in there... but still no joy.

Appreciate any other comments which could shed some light. I really can't be bothered calling up my SP... these guys are so dumb they tell you that you aren't able to get the cable service when you already have their line.... as in, you call up to order, they take your postcode [zip] and they say "we don't provide in your area, sorry" dumb or what? Anyway... a second call get's the job.

did you try a new cable also make sure your network card is in full duplex mode

ha ha... just at this stage let's pretend that it's not the cable [would be very difficult to remove/change]... is there any other possibility? duplex is set to 10mbit full bothway. Would changing any of the other options make a difference at all, such as the receive buffer size or TX threshold value?

i don't think I'd have an argument for calling them up with the low pings/tracerts I'm getting to UK servers/sites but the tracerts jump up so high to anywhere outside the UK. It never used to be so bad.

As you can see it sucks major and takes like a few seconds to have the whole page loaded....and all the images trail behind when they feel like it ;-) but seriously, never used to be like this. =And I'm guessing there's no way around this because this isn't my computer... probably the way it's all routed. Any ideas?

it does seem like isp end if you play around duplex setting that is isp dependent. So play around see if it helps

Well 90 MS to cross the Pond, is nothing to be upset about!

Your time to cross the Atlantic to North America is exactly Normal.

You should feel Lucky because Austrailia has about 150 MS to North America.

I forgot to post this before....

You might try looking for "Game Servers" closer to your country of origin to connect and play on. This may very well dramatically improve your gaming enjoyment.

Ya sure, I know how many game servers are set up in North America, but you do have an entire ocean that your data is crossing to connect and then travels back from. And thats close to 200ms (plus) so North American servers are going to get you fragged if there is a hicough in the connection. And 200(+) MS round trip may be too much to even think about playing, anyhow. Thats like a 28K dialup service over here trying to get in on some good major multiple player games. It just can't cut the proverbial mustard.

nah... as I said, I've had BB for a while and not experienced slow downs like this before. I used to play games all the time... quake 3 being one example of a game which needs low pings [unlike CS] and I used to get 30 through to 80 ms... now it seems to be in the hundreds all the time.

It's no biggie though.

It's just that even a general slow down of accessing pages has occured. From hotmail to google.

Doesn't seem as bad now anyway but thanks for the replies mate.
