Look for info about DirecWay from DirecTV and Starband.
DirecWay
Starband

Edit: Just noticed your username has "uk" in it. If you are indeed in the UK these options probably are not for you.

There is a satelite broadband in the UK,
I think it is Bigpond Internet Service, but I don't remember for sure.
All I know is that I had to contact them once when one of their satellite customers was trying to hack into my computer's ports.

Check for availabilty of wireless broadband before you go to satellite.....

I had Pegasus 2 way satellite for over a year and it never was what was promised.....My DL speeds, while at times neared 1Mbps(1000Kbps) is usually was around 350K............The uplink speeds were horrible running between as low as 8K up to 60K or so....

Look for something like this... http://volo.net/Home in your area......

You'll pay as much as $500 for set up/start up with satellite plus commit to a year service at as much as $69 a month.........

Satellite beats dial up but just barely.....

:D Bohogg's experience ... in your case IMVHO you need hdw recomendation :
831 IP/FW/PLUS 3DES c831-k9o3sy6-mz.12.3-7.T 48 8 = details below
it means latest version Cisco c831 router should be recomended.

good explanation & NEW satellite problems solution you can find
in CISCO Rate Based Satellite Control Protocol (RBSCP)
on Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3T New Features and Hardware 09/Mar/2004
IOS 12.3T http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps380/prod_bulletin09186a00801abfda.html

in above Rate Based Satellite Control Protocol http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps380/prod_bulletin09186a00801abfda.html#wp55828 link
you can read as follow:
... 2.9.7) Rate Based Satellite Control Protocol (RBSCP)
Description
Two well-known characteristics of satellite links cause very poor TCP performance:
•Higher bit-error rates over the satellite link as compared to hard links cause an increase in lost packets
•Long round-trip time (RTT) over the satellite link, typically > 500ms
These characteristics cause the following problems:
•The slow start time is much longer (due to the long RTT), increasing the time it takes for a TCP sender to fully ramp up its sending rate
•The incorrect interpretation of packet loss by TCP as congestion results in a congestion window collapse such that only one MTU of data may be allowed to be outstanding. In addition, the long RTT prevents the use of localized link retransmissions as an effective method to mitigate the packet loss.
...

Benefits
•Single device handles both routing and optimized IP over the satellite network
•Non-disruptive software solution preserves the end-to-end IP session
•Maximizes link bandwidth utilization while reducing slow start
•Supports IPsec encryption of end host clear text traffic across the satellite link (e.g. a VPN service configuration)
•Does not require any stack/software changes or additional software at the end hosts (e.g. TCP stack changes, additional client-server software, etc.)
•Supports the use of existing Cisco IOS Software features such as QoS, IPsec and others ...
