Can you bind 2 network cards to split downloads of a single file?

General discussion related to Cable Modems, DSL, Wireless, Fiber, Mobile Networks, Wireless ISPs, Satellite, or any other type of high-speed Internet connection, general issues and questions here. Review and discuss ISPs as well (AT&T / SBC, BellSouth, Bright House, CableOne, Charter, Comcast, Covad, Cox, Cablevision / Optimum Online, TMobile, Verizon FIOS, Shaw, Telus, Starlink, etc.)

Can you bind 2 network cards to split downloads of a single file?

Basically my question is stated in the subject. I'm wondering whether you can "shotgun" two NICs on a Win2k Pro machine using some sort of trick of the "route" command or anything? I am attempting to double my speed on DSL, because the one modem serves 4 seperate IPs in my house, all able to download at the cap speed simultaneously.

Just an educated guess, but I think the best you could hope for is to load balance across the 4 IP addresses. But not to be able to actually Shotgun the IP's. As that, if it were possible, would also need to be supported on the ISP end of the DSL connection, to work in the manner which you are hoping for a more favorable higher download speed limit

Load balancing is the best you can do and with a download accelerator is could literally split the file and download half on one connection, half on the other.

So can I install a 2nd NIC and expect a program like Download Accelerator to pick up on that, and split the downloads?
