So sad to hear about Larry's passing. I've been a member of the SG community for a very, very long time and minir was always there as a friend for all.
Larry, you will be missed. Rock on in heaven.

Hey Everybody!!
Wow! Long time no see! If anybody doesn't remember me, my name is Jason. I've been on here since I was a naive adolescent (14?). Well, I'm 27 now, an Iraq veteran (USMC), and college educated majoring in Business Information Systems. Browsing through the forums, I see lots of familiar names (YoS ...

I just got a bitchen 1 Terabyte Western Digital "My Book Essential Edition" external HD. I am copying a lot of crap to it, but I'm looking for some software that will show me data transfer rates, kind of like "DU Meter" does for network traffic.
I've googled it, but i just dont know what to call it ...

Closing internet explorer stops current download
I've never had this happen before, but if I'm downloading a large file through internet explorer and then close all internet explorer windows while it's still downloading, it also shuts down (closes) the download.
How do I keep the download going without having any windows running?
Thanks,
J

yes, the comptuer does this straight from a fresh install of windows xp. I am also going to rule the ram out becuase i believe it would run like this even when it's cold. The freezing isnt relative to the hard drive usage or temp. It happens mainly from heavy CPU loads. does it sound reasonable that ...

Has anybody invented a way yet to hook up a normal IDE hard drive to a USB port? I know they sell portable hard drives, but im looking for a way to take a standard hard drive and hook it up VIA usb or firewire.
Thanks
