well finally got the router on the weekend. It was easy enough to set up.

I do like the ability of limiting bandwidth per port. That way my kids can't suck all the bandwidth. hehe.

HotBrick Router

Has anyone picked one of these routers up yet? They look impressive and I am tempted to get one.

The router should fix you up.... btw, xdsl as far as I know only categorizes the different ones available meaning adsl, sdsl, hdsl, and vdsl.

Simply put all three are important. Fast RIG, Solid ISP, and Fast VideoCard.

Additionally Games are getting vary RAM hungry,, your RIG should have at least 256meg of Ram if not more.

Now obviously the game your playing dictates the Processor and Video card required,,,, in most first person shooter ...

YeOld,

I installed your posted version of Jet Admin and it allowed me to install the printer. SO THATS GREAT THANKS!

I still can't add or change any TCP/IP ports VIA Properties on the printer,,, but since I can print I really am not to worried about it.

1. XP boots up twice as fast
2. XP seems to run more stable with 128meg or less memory
3. With 256meg on either there really seems to be no difference.

If your going to use XP,, turn off all the garbage and it looks just like 2k.

Obviously One day 2k won't be supported. Obviously XP one day won't ...

Well,, probably 4 months ago my daughters RIG was doing all kinds of strange things.... problem "Kazaa" and probably half the other spyware etc. that ended up on her machine.... My resolution for her was Reformat, re-install OS, and not re-install Kazaa.

Now she has no problems :)

The problem with many residential DSL accounts is the limited upload bandwidth,,, typically 120kbps... therefore all you would need is one person to be uploading a file and BAM your Download speed of 1500kbps is cut to 120kbps.


Possibly if you could get a good Ultra speed DSL 3000/800 then ...

As far as I am concerned a NIC is definetly the way to go.... I wouldn't want any part of USB connectivity.

50US is a fairly high price but since that included installation then I would say it was a good deal.
