i won't go into two many details, just give the facts...and my questions.
using dial-up ISP. have 3 computers. computer 1 is in building A, computer 2 and 3 are in building B. building A and B are about 50 ft apart. have two phone lines, one for voice and one for internet/fax, but both are currently in building A. each computer has a phone modem and a NIC card. have one dial-up ISP account which charges for multiple connects, ie we can only have one computer dial-in. have Cat5 cables. have both win98se and winXP.
so, we need to have them online. i realize it would be slow, but dialup is the only option. what equipment would be needed? i'm guessing we have computer 1 dial in and have computer 2 and 3 connect to 1 via ethernet cable. also, is it possible to start the dial-up on computer 1 from computer 2 or 3? remote instructions to dial-up? it would be a pain in the butt to run back and forth to get online.
overall, this a house and an self build office building. a friend is starting a company.
dialup network

You will need a NIC in each computer plus a hub or switch. Windows has an ICS (internet connection sharing) it is built in; for his network that would work fine.
Now if you want to be able to Turn on the RIG remotely then you will need a PC and a NIC that support Remote wake-up. But if your just leave the RIG that will be connecting to the network "ON" then it will auto-dial out and connect anytime the Remote RIGs want on the internet plus if configured to will auto disconnect each time the Remote RIGs stop their request for the internet.
