isconnection problem

Post by TClite »

after prolonged use, particularly arfter downloading a big file from kazaa my modem has a sever malfunction with closing its connection. all programs are closed, kazaa too. It runs fine whilst im on the net, i have researched this for quite some time.....i have made sure all my power saving options are unchecked and to my knowledge i have the most up to date drivers for the zoom 5510 dsl. I just cant figure this one out.....when i disconnect i notice that my modem monitor (connection status monitor) shows that im still recieving...then stops after about 10 seconds...where after my network connections crash.....i cant enter network connections via control pannel or task manager, moreover its affecting my machine quite a bit as it cannot shutdown, it hangs whilst saving settings...any ideas, or input from people with this would be most appreciated...as i now have to hit the reset button to restart my machine...very often, which isnt good!

any news on the latest drivers would be great

currently at driver set : version1.12.0.19

Well,, probably 4 months ago my daughters RIG was doing all kinds of strange things.... problem "Kazaa" and probably half the other spyware etc. that ended up on her machine.... My resolution for her was Reformat, re-install OS, and not re-install Kazaa.

Now she has no problems :)

Not saying that is your problem, just saying that was her problem. ;)

my computer is spyware free, and this is a recent game my modem has decided to play....formatting isnt really a solution for me.....I have 70gb on my HDD, i was wondering if there are any options that need reset, tweaked or removed completely...im at a loss with this, the modem will disconnect fine if im not downloading large files, maybe i should contact my isp.......get them to check the line, it seems to have a problem dropping a connection......perhaps the firewall could cause this, cloging up port traffic etc. Nobody else that i know of with this modem has encountered such a problem, are other ideas folks?

I am currently going through this problem with my service. I am spy-ware free, virus free and my connection just disconnects just like you. I doubt that a format will do anything. Have your isp do a signal strength check for you.
