GigE NIC recommendation

Hi,

Any recommendations on a Gigabit Ethernet NIC that works with Vista's Receive-Side Scaling and Chimney Offloading as well as supports jumbo frames?

I'm running Vista Home Premium x64.

Thanks,

ammobox, two internet connections or two LANs? If you are thinking of "binding" two internet connections together the best you'll be able to do is load-balancing (i.e. you will not be able to use both connections simultaneously to download a single file).

What sort of flexibility are you referring to? Surely if the network boot disk connects to the network, maps a drive and then allows the image transfer, that's all you need.

We use a standard dos network boot disk, but have ported it to a USB stick.
Have you tried using PXE booting? not don't it ...

Ghost 8 + Network Boot Disk

Any SGers use Ghost 8 with a network boot disk?

I've tried Bart's , the Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk , and the 911 Rescue CD (based on Bart's).

The problem: Ghost 8.0.0.984 will not save images to a network share (Local | Partition | To Image). However, I can restore Ghost images from ...

Came to a partial decision today. I'm gonna go with a Pocket PC + GPS. Figure it'll be about the same price (or even less) than an in car GPS, and this way I'll have some more flexibility. Anyway, I just ordered a Dell Axim X50 520 from Dell. Now I just have to decide on a GPS receiver and software ...

Ad & Popup Blocker For IE6

Anyone know of a good popup AND and blocker for Internet Explorer 6? And I don't mean an alternative browser like Mozilla Firebird or a browser that uses the IE engine like SlimBrowser. What I'm really looking for is a toolbar plugin for IE.

Unfortunately, when I re-run setup, I don't get the option of customizing my IE 6 installation. My only option is the Windows 2000 / XP install, from which I cannot make any changes to what is installed. Setup just proceeds to re-installing everything (IE 6 Web Browser, OE, and Scripting Support).

Tweaking may help your speeds, assuming your not reaching your cap, which you most likely aren't.

As for latency (pings), please conduct and post some trace routes to game srvers you frequent.

Were both computers being used (downloading files, playing games online, etc.) when you experienced these ping spikes and speed problems? Also, what is your down/up caps? (If unsure, contact your ISP.)

I see, it decided to BBQ itself. :D I'm quite familiar with that, as my motherboard did the same thing several weeks ago.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about getting the 'best' modem possible. There shouldn't be a performance difference so just get one that's supported by your ISP. :)

I wouldn't suggest making one. They can be purchased online or installed by your DSL provider (usually for a fee).

Is this something you are considering for your DSL connection? Are you using filters now?

Welcome to SG...

Depending on the DSL hardware (router or bridge) supplied by Speakeasy, your Nexland router may not be needed. I'd contact Speakeasy and find out if you are receiving a router or bridge. If router with more than one port, then obviously you wont need your Nexland router.
