AOL ART Files

Post by glc1 »

How do I open these files if I don't use AOL? I use Paint Shop Pro 7, but it doesn't seem to support them.

I'm not sure this is related, but it sounds as if it might be, so worth posting it.

When installing IE using the advanced method, there is an option to add support for AOL art formats (or something similar) I can't remember the exact words.
By default that option isn't checked. Try reinstalling your version of IE, and give it a shot.

I'm running Win2k Pro w/ SP3 and IE 6 w/ SP1 and there was no advanced options when I downloaded and installed IE. And I just checked IE's advanced options and there doesn't seem to be an option for .art support.

Sorry, I meant "Custom" Option. It is usually the option that states "Install minimum or customise" in the installer. There is 2 options, one is Typical Install. You want the other option, and it should be in the list that comes up.

I may be wrong about IE6, but I know it's there in IE5.01 SP2

Unfortunately, when I re-run setup, I don't get the option of customizing my IE 6 installation. My only option is the Windows 2000 / XP install, from which I cannot make any changes to what is installed. Setup just proceeds to re-installing everything (IE 6 Web Browser, OE, and Scripting Support).

Is it the same way if you go to add remove programs or IE repair tool? You should be given the option from there to add a component. Suppose you checked that already though.

If I go to Add/Remove, add a component is greyed out.
