Hi, lately i have been experiencing my internet connection speed like freeze up or not moving at all, I'm using a ADSL broadband connection 1Mbps downstream and 384 upstream with a D-Link modem/router. The speed sometimes worst than a 56k, its like i can't even go to any website, everytime i try to refresh the website its always show "Page cannot be displayed....or DNS error". When this happen i have to shutdown my router/modem for a few sec and restart back, then only the connection will be back to normal. I have called up my ISP, and they told me there is nothing wrong with the line connection.
I also suspect that wether izzit my brother using a bittorrent to download file that steal all the bandwidth ?? I'm sharing internet connection with my brother using the router/modem without a host computer. Does anyone have any clue in this ??

Change it from "suspect it's your brother"...to "find out for sure if it's your brother"....look at the link light on the router that corresponds with the port he's plugged into. Or better yet...when you suspect he's hammering your bandwidth..unplug his patch cable for a minute...see if your problem goes away.
///inserts appropriate warning..if your brother is older and bigger than you....
This is the year that some routers are emerging on the market, which do prioritizing of traffic/QoS. DLink, Hawking, have some on the market already.

I have confirmed that my brother was using bittorent like software to download stuffs, but i wasn't that if it's the bittorent software that was causing the bandwidth loss.
I mean i'm not saying that my brother can't download stuffs using bittorent like software, but i would just like to set the bandwidth limits for this bittorent thing to a lower priorty, so that when accessing or surfing other website won't have the impact. I'm using the D-Link Router DSL-504T, but i'm not sure how to set the priority of traffic/qos that you mention.
