i found that cutting acrylic with a power tool sucks.

It just heats it up, and melts it and sometimes wrecks what u intened to do. If you can run a power tool at very low speed then it will be ok.

I sucured a fan and heatsink to my motherboard on the northbridge chipset with paste and the 2 plastic clips that came with the fan..... lol, and it works like a treat........

another smashing tip, to keep the heatsink completly level all over the processor, get a shimy. They are cheep as chips and help distribute the pressure of the heatsink.

I am thinking of buying a new case, and i seen a few nice little server cube cases, the ones with 2 seperate compartments...one for the motherboard.... and the other houses the hard disks, cd roms and PSU.

I had a k62, and a k63 and a duron, and an athlon, and now an XP, and i have no issues @ all,

They run everyting, and can cope better with the audio editing that I do, where the intel failed.

I had an idea a while ago to improve the air flow in my old case, and it worked, i used some car air ducting that was 60mm wide, and strapping a fan @ the front sucking air in, and one @ the back expelling the air, this ran in a chicane shape ...

OK what you do not say is what type of processor you have.

Is the hard disk you are using new or old? did you buy the PC from a retailer, and if so did you get recovery disks?


There may be a possibility that one piece of hardware is causeing the system to crash and it is trying to find that piece ...

it should be OK, i have a Geforce 4 440 MX and the fan on that went tits up, soo i needed to get a replacement fan, the one i got was similer to the one u bought, the one that came on the card originally was a 3 pin one with a rpm detection, i replaced mine with a cooler, and quiter one ...

What you will find is that 14 k will be the maximum upload speed that you can load @.

I have a 1 mbit line with a 256 upload and my maximum is 14k per second.

You can get tweek programmes but they only usually make a diffrence to ur download ,

I have a Sound Blaster audigy 1 card, and it rawks
I have had no problems and it runs all my sound applications like clockwork

i use the 5 1/2 inch bay to record the input form my mixing desk, and use the digital cables to and from my mini disk player.

I have never experecned issues with the card ...

hey there all i am installing windows 2000 onto a ;aptop, and it has a ATI Radeon 7500 Mobility graphics card that is onboard, and i can't find drivers for it, i have trawled the internet looking for them ,and found a few but they do not install correctly, and cause windows 2k to blue screen on boot ...

there may be a possibility that you mmight be able to use it as a second monitor, i have seen a few usb monitors that are used as a second monitor on servers and a workstations, that might be a handy thing to keep.

I would go through a process of elimination,

i had a problem a while back where my dvd drive and my cd writer would eject them selfs from the hardware list, and they would not be accessable any more.

I tryed a few things and found it to be not enough power. I had a 350 psu that came with the case ...

well u have 2 channels primary master and slave, and secondary master and slave.

U allways put ur hard disk on the primary master and then u add ur other devices to the other ide channels . Say for example u have 2 cd roms on the secondary ide cable , well u just swap the cd rw across to the ...

Ok judging buy what u replyed with it may just be a duff CD RW.

As as said before it can happen, further possibilities before u rush out and beat sumone up over it not working,

---Try swapping the IDE channels
---Try the CD -RW in a different machine (if that option is avalible)
