Winamp 5 Final released.

It's pretty cool. Stream video, stream radio stations, new AVS picks, etc. Best of all, doesn't feel like it's congesting your computer like Winamp 3. Here is the version history from the menu:

Winamp 5.0:
* Support for classic Winamp 1.x/2.x/2.9x skins and Winamp 3 ("Modern") skins
* Fancy new ...

Hey, I hear ya. But I just figured out the problem after two system restores, quicktime reinstalls, and finally acceptance: I had a proxy on. All that for nothin'. ;)

At least I found some new coming attractions sites. :D

Movie trailers? . . .

Earlier this week I was watching 7 or 8 movie trailers in a row over at apple.com and then none of them work and freeze my browser (be it IE 6 or Opera 7.10) whenever I try to watch another one.

So... does anyone know of another site like that with quality trailers, or has anyone encountered this ...

You could use the Opera browser. It allows you to turn off images (or make webpages text-only) with the touch of one button and other things to make browsing less demanding on the computer. Also turning off things like cookies may help.

You can get the browser over at CNET.

I'd say it is the firewall. Same thing happened to me when I tried to go with Tiny Personal Firewall... the speed completely slowed to a standstill. When it wasn't loaded, speed was fine (I'm on broadband, too). Sygate, however, worked perfect for me.

Try Tiny.

Perhaps you should also, you know, look into who you're downloading off of. If you're getting a file from a 56k modem, do you think they can upload at speeds of 40k/sec? Your download on a peer2peer network depends on the upload speed of the file HOLDER, not the download speed of the file WANTER.

Umm, I don't have a router...

But there have been many storms in the past two weeks and the comp was cut off in a few power outage blinks maybe twice. That possibly have something to do with it? Maybe I should cycle the modem...

Hrm, I'll figure it out, thanks...

Connection problem. Help, please?

I guess it started happening about a week ago. Two times a day, the connection will just fail. I'm on RoadRunner. This hasn't happened before. IE, AIM, Windows Messenger, and Outlook will all not connect. All lights look good on the modem, but Sygate reports no incoming or outgoing data. The only ...

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I can access my email (I use Outlook) and the internet (IE). I had a problem a few weeks ago where I couldn't at all for a day or so, but I guess that was just a simple ISP problem.

Also to add to my original post, I'm on RR cable modem, if that's of any consequence.

3. Most all colleges are on T1s or T3s. When you download off a filesharing program, and you download off someone with that connection, you'll always get a get speed (I usually get up in the 100s). But most DSL/cable modem users are capped at upload around 40 or 50k/sec. That's why your download is ...
