Win98 games in WinXp?
Hey there people. I'm just wondering if any of you have done anything to solve something like that.
I have a pretty old game that runs in DOS, which is fine in win98.
I'm just wondering if there is any possibility to run the game in
WinXP. I tried the compatibility mode, but that didn't seem to ...

Temp folder
I have set up a Temp folder on another partition and was wondering if anyone knew how to set windows to put all the TEMP files in that folder instead of the usually C:\windows\Temp
I think I remember it got something to do with the registry, but I'm not positive.
Any advice would be helpful.

Just make the image, put it on a partition on the hard drive
then burn it on a CD from within windows.

Try that SVO-1
It might be what your looking for without the adware stuff.
I believe Winboost also had an option on changing the IE background too if you just feel like downloading winboost instead.

Metapad
Well first off, the program looks better than Notepad!
Then in the settings you can set a external viewer (like a browser)
so you just open HTML source code and launch the viewer to view your page.
It comes in very handy.
It's got a lot of other features too
get it at http://www.liquidninja.com ...

How About NotePad?
I make my own resumes using Notepad.
I make them in HTML
It's not so hard, just emulate the look of a resume.
Plus, it's free! (Personally, I use Metapad - a notepad replacement.)

Try the Registry
You can't delete the favorite folder from windows explorer.
You must go into the registry and edit a setting in there somewhere. I forgot which one exactly. I'll find it and get back to you.
Or you can message one of 'em spammers on SG.

Thanks!
Thanks for the speedy replies.
I got a tweaked win98 machine so I'm not worried about resources, just trying to get more speed outta my DSL.
Seems like I'm already tweaked to the max then.
Thanks again people!

Raspppoe faster than Enternet?
Hey people.
I'm just wonder is RASpppoe faster than Enternet on win98.
I"m currently using Access Manager from Sympatico which is a customized version of Enternet.
I read about RASpppoe and it seems pretty nice. :)
Just wondering if it would be worthwhile to switch to RASpppoe from Enternet.

IE download folder
If you were using IE, then your download was saved to the folder
C:\windows\msdownld.tmp\
It is a temporary place that IE places files into before it is done downloading it.
It is also hidden so people won't see it unless they "show all files" in explorer

Burst Mode?
Is your connect DSL or cable?
if it's DSL, try this URL
http://cable-dsl.home.att.net/#Interleaved
It talks about a Interleaved mode that can slow down DSL.
Hope you find it useful!

Try searching for Dap in the software forum, it's a old old thread, but Norm himself have stated that DAP isn't spyware, in fact, he uses DAP....

I was aware of the winXP feature, but I don't think I want to install another OS.
You people here are a gold mine of information!
