futhermore, those channel are being blocked out by a device on your line that is eliminating those analog signals form coming down your line with any type of usable signal. the only thing you can do is pay for the service so they can remove the trap and allow the rest of the signal for those ...

comcast will/can change you ip as often as every 2 hours, trust me you need the static. i've had alot of customers get re-installed after their vpn/other ip based service fails b/c of an ip change.

sounds like it is trying to renew it's lease with the cmts and is failing, try to get them to reprovision it, the will have to if you swap it out, so try to get another one to try and fix the problem

yeah something is def. changin, 28 is a bad s/n ratio then you say you get a 37 which is super and you gain like 15db, something is funky. tell then next tech out what you are seeing, just be polite about it.

he needs a tech to come out to adjust his signal levels. cabling, hardware, and provisioning can cause disconects.

if his cable is damaged it to the point that he drops off then his signal level, ect would not be within the ranges they are. that's like saying my car cuts out but when it runs it gets a ton of fuel.....then it floods, similar concept.

i doubt there is anything wrong with the cabling, if anything it is working too good, signal could use stand to be a little lower and upstream needs to be higher.

this is what i go by just incase anyone is using the 192 diag to pull up info. if you are ourside of this than that is probably the cause of your porblems.
signal to noise = 30-35
downstream power level (or just power level) = +5-
upstream power level = 40-50
signal to noise, or carrier to noise, is ...

s2n 38! power +6, upstream 55! your blaming the node for that? he's amping a bad signal....a plus 6 with a 15?db gain amp sucks that shows that he's amping a -9 if it is a 15db gain amp. call comcast and let them fix it probably just a bad drop.

upstream power is low...you could put a 4 way splitter in the line and get it up to about 42 and your signal would still be good @ a -3ish..edit, your modem is getting lost in the noise floor is my best bet

everything looks a little jacked, s2n is high signal is low kinda and upstream is kinda low, your connection needs some fine tuning.

i have had 3 moto's in a row not put out ip's. they will come out an check your lines, ect. but if it is the modem all the can do is set your up with a rental.

you are asking if a sub-band {bad line?} filter can slow you down if it fails? could do, i guess if it's letting in/egerss in your line. i have seen very very few fail though. what does 192.168.100.1 say? under diagnostics or signal

The modem is telling you that the downstream channel is too noisy. Don't let the tech leave until the downstream level is 0 dbmv or better.
all i am saying is that sometimes you are not going to hit the modem with 0 or better! you don't know what's coming out of the tap, drop length, digi boxes ...

The drop is required to be grounded before entering the building. The 'ground block' may be housed in a plastic enclosure similar to what telco uses. Other than that I don't know what the equipment you referred to could be.

Use quad-shield RG-6 cable and compression connectors for your inside ...

you can run an amp with a modem if the amp doesn't block return..but you will up your rdc power level by around 1.

so the "thorugh leg"of the dc goes to the modem and the tap goes to the amp-8way with a window filter before the amp? i would have got the boxes off of the amp to helo with the rdc but that's just me how many does he have? but the setup is the best for the modem....should be getting a ton of signal ...

I don't know how comcast's system works, but @ charter we have traps to control channels 2-78. We have one that blocks 2-78(modem only), and two others for different grades of analogue service. Everything else is digital, and you can't use those boxes without them being allowed in charter's network ...

-8 is a noisy crappy signal and it should be repaired not amped -5 to +5 is ok to amp....you will throw your s2n amping that
edit: also good luck risking a sub band filter when you use the shack coax to hook it up and send a ton of noise onto your node.
