ComCast Static IP Address

Post by cellcon »

I recently had to aquire a Static IP address from ComCast for security purposes for my business.

They informed me that I did not have a Static IP andwould have to install one.

A technician came out and installed a new modem. i am being charged an extra $25.00 a month for what ComCast calls an "IP Package".

I get the feeling that I am being Rooked!!!.

Any comments?

Thanks,

comcast will/can change you ip as often as every 2 hours, trust me you need the static. i've had alot of customers get re-installed after their vpn/other ip based service fails b/c of an ip change.

yeah I was going to say.. most ISP's for Cable hardly shake someone off the IP# it was assigned unless a major network outage or you just haven't hooked up your modem in a month.

the whole point of it is if your doing ip sensitive business would you risk downtime for a few more dollars a month?
