Intermittent Connectivity Interuptions - Charter

Post by rynology »

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me because technicians at Charter haven't been able to so far.
For a long time I have been dealing with frustrating stability issues with my internet connection. I just sort of pawned it off on the router, but I recently replaced my router with a Belkin N1 and I still have the exact same issues.

When I play games on Xbox 360 I will get 20 second connection interuptions every so often. Maybe every 10 minutes or so.

When I talk on my VOIP phone (packet 8), I am lose sound of the person I am talking to after maybe 10 - 20 minutes for maybe 30 seconds then I can hear them again. Just recently I started experiencing complete call disconnects.

When talking to the last technician he indicated that a good power level signal range is between -13 and +13db. I am using the Motorola Surfboard 5100 and when I check my signal 192.168.100.1/signal.html it reports -11db. Is this a sufficient power level?

Any ideas or thoughts that might lead to a resolution would be extremely appreciated.

I dont know what the power thresholds are but call and see what the tech says, and check the levels from the modem when u get the pauses.
