Howdy,

Sounds like a Winsock problem.

Basically to fix:

Remove all networking devices and protocols.

Boot into safe mode, go to Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs, and go to the Windows Setup section.

Uncheck Dialup Networking to remove the remnants of TCP/IP.

Reboot and go back into safe ...

YOSC---Howdy!!

I am using one computer as my "test unit". I just unhooked everything and set up this computer straight into the cable modem--static. BOOM! No sweat. Great connection everything fine. Hooked to internal SMC nic.

Then, went into Network config. and unchecked everything and shut down ...

I agree with Loonatic. I would get rid of the Comcast software. I use a Linksys router with 4 computers on my home network. No problems.

Just for the fun of it last week, I put an old ISA 3COM ethernet card into an AcerAspire 486DX2 computer, 540MB HDD, 36MB ram, Win95, IE5.5. I plugged it into my cable network and the thing averages 75-80KBs on real downloads.

Matter of fact it's kinda' fun....like driving a hopped ...

Hi,

As far as I'm concerned, cable with a router is the only way to go!!

It will probably take you about 2 minutes of using it to draw the same conclusion.

How much speed loss should I expect by having both Cable Internet connection and Cable TV on the same line?? Comcast just called and it seems that this is the best way for me to go.
