Comcast cable modem question...

Post by spaceman »

Hi,

Comcast is sending me a new, super-duper, bells & whistles, DOCSIS modem. They tell my that my Com21 is non-DOCSIS and that they will not support it and I need to be ready for the NEXT generation of wonderful things to come.

My question is this: Will my old modem still work after 10/07/2002? I don't care if they support it or not so long as it works and gives me an internet connection.

Thanks for your answers.

They are removing the head end equipment that supports the non-DOCSIS modems. That may not happen on exactly the date they say, but it will go away, and you will have to install the DOCSIS modem.

Thanks Kip....

I was hoping it would be like a Microsoft thing......"Microsoft will no longer support Win95 after Jan 33, 19xx".
