AS far as I have experienced, Linux is very good at self tuning. There are some tweaks that can be applied, but none have given me any noticeable increase.

Most of the settings are in /proc/sys/net/ipv4/

The only thing I do is turn timestamps off

echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_timestamps

Group policy settings are global, all users (including administrators) are affected. If you want to enable a group policy for a specific user I have a list of all the registry values, then you must log in as that user or load their user hive, and apply the change.

Check your display properties, settings tab, advanced, it can be in there somewhere. I have an ATi card, it depends on your drivers as to where it is, but it should be in there somewhere.

Your AGP should be set to 4x as that is your mobo's chipset maximum and your vid card would handle it. Make sure it is set in the BIOS.

RASPPPoE or most PPPoE clients use 8 bytes for authentication in the header of the TCP packet, since you are not allowing it that 8 bytes, you can't connect ;)

XP's built in PPPoE client uses 20 bytes, so its MTU is 1480.

I replied to your post at DSL nuts, the analyzer reports that low RWIN because the RWIN increases to a point during transfer. The analyzer doesn't send enough data for the RWIN to react.

Cablenut works just fine for DSL, anything saying otherwise is wrong, yes these setting can affect DSL users but is very rare

First, your ping is not really tweakable. With Cox cable, try setting your NIC to 10Mb half duplex, and change the default receive window in cablenut to 384000

always in kilobits, 300KB down as you said you were getting above is 2400kbps, that is pretty fast. Most business dsl just has a better upload, not too many providers offer DSL above 1500, but some do.

This doesn't make sense. Unless you have a T3 line to your house, the limit is not going to be the router, it is going to be your connection speed. If it is OOL (10000 down) then a router with a 10Mbit WAN side will still be able to handle it. All 7 PCs are not going to be able to use full bandwith ...

you cant judge speed on things like KaZaA or BitTorrent, since they are dependent on the people you are connected to. Use something like a Speakeasy speed test or a large ftp download from a reliable server. You have to reboot after making changes with cablenut.
