I got this van with 108,000 miles on it from my parents when I first got my license. For a little less than $400 I took it though an entirely entertaining and somewhat amazing transformation. The project was started in February and was disassembled in August (left for college).

I added an 80mm intake and an 80mm exhaust. I also removed dust from the cpu heatsink and graphics card heatsink. After doing all of this I have not had any more crashes in games. Turns out it was a heat issue after all. Strange stuff.

Check out the Top Gear (UK television show for those unfamiliar) 2003 car roundup video. The RX-8 does very well and comes close to being chosen the most "fun" car of 2003.

There is a large middleground between hardcore H2O overclocked setups and plain Dells.

There is a lot more to computer enthusiasm than crazy overclocking.

Dell Inspiron 8000 with Windows XP

Regardless of how the laptop enters standby mode (folding down the screen, keyboard command, period of inactivity), I can not get it to come back to life without freezing.

TESTING RESULTS:

I swapped cards with another known-working 3C905-TX and had the same problem.

I changed PCI slots and had the same problem.

I changed NIC to a Realtek 8139B based NIC and now have 0% packet loss.

How much less reliable is the Realtek 8139B card than the 3C905?
