The modem in the picture above does nothing more than dial the service provider and user acount for your friend. It has no port forwarding or firewall features.

Which Speed Stream modem do you have specifically the model number? It sounds like you are connecting the modem with USB, is that correct?

I have seen this noise problem before on certain sets even though the sets are individually filtered.
