Just a quick note, there are alot of posts in this forum where people are having problems with DSL. I have been fixing DSL issues for Bell Canada now for more than 6 years. 9 out of 10 troubles I have been on have been caused by either:

I was just wondering if anyone here has had to open the ports on thier routers, in the list that came with the BF2 booklet on page 19?

I haven't changed anything in my settings and it seems to work fine?

Are the Port forwarding steps you listed above what she has entered or are they copied and pasted from another site. The Speedstream 5200 that Sympatico offers is flashed with ISP specific features and differs from the firmware found on other ISP versions of this modem.

The modem in the picture above does nothing more than dial the service provider and user acount for your friend. It has no port forwarding or firewall features.

I was just wondering what kind of web cam she has?

Is she trying to us the mic on the webcam or a stand alone mic?

Which Speed Stream modem do you have specifically the model number? It sounds like you are connecting the modem with USB, is that correct?

I have seen this noise problem before on certain sets even though the sets are individually filtered. Some people have had luck double filtering these sets but for the most part if the set is sensitive to DSL noise then you should try another set. I have seen people with up to 4 filters on one phone ...

If you are using a Linksys Router then more than likely you will have a feature under Applications and Gaming called QOS (Quality of Service). You can throttle the bandwidth there either by Application or MAC Address and Port.
