I'm going to Williamsburg Virginia this week!

Anybody live near there? I'll be flying in it with my GF seems on Saturday and staying for a week. Highlight for me I think is going to be Busch Gardens. Roller coasters there are so sweet from what I hear.

I have that same card running in Win2k Pro SP2. Only prob I have ever had with DVD playback in Win2k using ATI's hardware accelerated DVD player is after I installed Adaptec Easy CD 4. It installs a codec that manages to screw up vid playback beleive it or not. Everything came up garbles although ...

Sounds like the character generator is pooched on the vid card if every bit of text is garbled.

Try a diff vid card in the pc and see what happens. Any old peice of crap you can get your hands on. Or simply try reseating the video card.

I cant see how it would be only IBM HD's that work for that pc. I mean all the other parts are not proprietary. I mean IBM does not make video cards, sound card chips etc...

But like the others said they make some pretty sweet HD's so might as well get one of them. Buy as big as they make. :)

OK, I'm on 2 and a half weeks vacation starting yesterday. I'm not doing anything till Saturday when I head out of town. I thought I'd show some of the things I've been up to so far this year.

I'd say prying the huge heatsink/fan I put on my Voodoo 3 3500 I stuck on with Glue thermal compound. I was trying to get it off with my trusty swiss army knife blade and it sliced my little finger pretty good. :)

I'm thinking the WD drive is formatted with fat16 file system which has a maximum partition size of 2Gigs.. Use a 98 boot disk and fdisk the drive , then format.

I second a Radeon Gen card for DVD quality and playback. I have a All In Wonder Radeon and its such a sweet well rounded card. Cant say enough good things about it.

Where are you seeing that it is only recognizing 64 megs of ram?
At boot up or in windows?
If in windows go into msconfig in the advanced section and make sure that memory isnt limited to 64 megs by unchecking the box.

Anything installed recently? If so go into safemode then uninstall the app or run a scanreg /restore from C:/windows/command to a date when the pc was working properly.

Covertors (slotkets) work great. God ones can allow voltage setting changes which can aid in OC'ing. If thats the only reason you would buy a new board then defintely save your money and buy a cheap p3 and convertor. Nice and easy.
