How much would you pay for sunglasses?

They're one of those things that you totally take for granted until they're lost.

I've paid $140 for Ray-Bans, stolen after 2 years.

Paid $120 for Vaurnets, sat on them last summer when I was drunk

Ever since I've been using a pair of cheap shades I found on a disc golf course. Loved 'em.

Now it's been a week and they're nowhere to be found.

All the stores have EXPENSIVE wrap-around styles and nothing else, and I HATE wrap-arounds. They look funny on my face and I think they're complete poser gear.

However, there seems to be nothing else on the market around here.

Any good sunglasses links anyone?

How much have you paid?

School starts Monday and I hate riding my bike to school without sunglasses, or even not having them when driving.

ya i just lost mine too....but they where $20 pair.....i won't pay more then 40 cause i always break or lose them

I went through 3 pairs of Ray bans before I finally went out and bought a $17 dollar pair, and I had them for 2 years before I finally lost those too. When your used to shades and then ya lose 'em, I find the sun to be blinding as hell. I gotta get me a new pair, that's for sure. I won't spend anymore than $30 now though, just as long as their uva/uvb. What you looking to spend???

Dunno yet.

I like the quality of good shades, and my Ray Bans were sweet.

But I relaize cheap ones can offer the same level of eye protection.

Anywhere from $20 to maybe $75.

Revo mkaes some good glasses, pricey, but top notch stuff. I have had a few pairs of those, I currently have Bolle's, okay but I'd prefer a darker tint. Maui Jim, Ray Ban, and Sun Clouds(Nikon makes those, they might be outta production, but geez thay have good optics), are all good brands. Bauch and Lomb, obvisiouly makes decent glasses. If I needed some specs rigtht now I'd be lookin for a set of polarized Revos, the Pythons are incredible. Look to pay 120-200 for great clarity and very little distortion. Polarized adds a few bucks too. Also, MAKE SURE that the glasses block at least 98% of UV-A and UV-B. Wearing bad sunglasses(not UV protection) is actually worse on yer eyes. The tint allows your pupil to dialate more, and allows more damaging rays in. Most reputable eye glass places will have a UV meter that you can test a set on.

You get polarized for a reason?

I don't fish anymore, but I canoe a lot and have thought about getting a cheapie pair of polarized shades so I can see the river channels better.

Do they help for driving too?

Road glare mainly. And any extra light blocking can't help. You can see through lotsa car windows too. If yer gonna be on the water a good bit, check out Revo's H2Optic line. VERY expensive, but then again you do get what you pay for.

I hate all those glamor sunglasses I feel like a fricking DORK wearing them... the most I will pay is 5 bucks... best pair of glasses I ever had and I have had them for two years now... I ALWAYS have to have my glasses near me.. I hate the sunlight it gives me a headache

Brembo, you sure are one smart village idiot. UV protection is the main thing I look for. I Don't buy real exspensive shades anymore, but they have to have UV protection, or it seems I get bad head aches. The last pair I bought was about $30, don't remember the brand name though.

I had two pair of oakley's, lost one pair off a pier when fishing. The other pair were stolen out of my car, somebody broke the window just to get the shades.

Branding iron to the nuts if it was up to me.

I lost my RayBans that way too, but my anger was directed in a different way.

I'd had them for at least 2 years, left them at a classmates after a group project.

She could've called me, but nooooo.

My last night in town before I moved, I ran into her at a bar, and she said, "Oh, I was hoping to see you, let me get your shades for you."

Got my hopes up...MY SHADES!

Then she comes back and says, "Oh well, someone must have taken them."

I look outside, and she had a soft top Jeep! She'd left my $140 RayBans on the dashboard of an open top vehicle!

And of course, no one took them until the day she was going to give them back.

What a stupid woman!

the best pair i ever bought and still have cost me 5 bucks, and they look as good as the high priced stuff. personally when it comes to sunglasses i am not going to pay 100-200 bucks because it has the name on it.

mine are black flys and i paid about $80 for them about 2.5 years ago. i have had them ever sense. though i never used to wear them a lot until i started driving. now i dont go anywhere with out them.

Hey HB! I went through all those fancy brands too over the years!,,NOW? I just get the one at the harley dealer for $6.00

they work just fine!

My favorite pair were Bolle's. I only paid $25 for em. There's a place near here that puts all their glasses on sale once a year.

The one's I use now, I found at WallMart...not distortion free, but good enough I dont' get a headache. Not fancy looking, but great protection and were polarized. I paid 15 bucks for em on sale.

After wearing them, I'll never use another glass that isn't polarized. Great for driving.

right now I have cheapo sunglasses got them from somebody for free..

but I did have Oakley's before that cost me $125
I will get some new ones, in the spring maybe..

I think somebody stole my oakleys, I always had them in my car and I used to take people home from work all the time, one time I looked for them and they were gone..oh well..

Best pair I ever had were Corning Serengetti Drivers.
Friggin awsome glasses, $185 canadian 9 years ago, broke the arms two years ago and cant find replacement arms. Sucks because they are the absolute best driving glasses on the planet.
Ray Bans are good, Serengetti's are awesome.
Wear Oxegen's now, not bad for cheap sunglasses,

They are cool glases with real nice lenses but I only bought them about 6 months ago now and they have a defect. At the corners where the arm meets the frame of the glass on each side there are small beginnings of cracks. I brought them to my local singlass hut (there are about 10 in my city) and they said they are defective but I have to send them to the manufacturer (Anarchy) for new glasses. I paid $109 Canadian for them.

I'm starting to agree that it does not pay to buy expensive glasses. I also had a pair of Raybans and the lenses started to just pop out of em. I also lost a pair of Bolle's I had.

LOL, I'm with John, I spend 5-10 bux for SG's from the guy on the corner. It's all about name brand, which I really couldn't care less about. I'll let other peeps buy $300 shades while I buy my $5 shades which look just as cool and offer the same protection.

$ 419.67 CDN. They are however Bifocals with expensive lens that are tinted then they have the Sunglass clip on's as well.

Believe me i can't see a thing without them, hell i can't see much with them

I always envy people that don't need glasses the luxury of buying really neat looking Sunglasses.

Oh well one day Corning Serengetti Drivers, they are great.

If you can See Your way clear buy Good Glasses, as you get what you pay for in the quality of the len's as to distortion, plus eveness in coating and of course frame quality.

You only get one pair of eye's. Be good to them

Point of interest, never had mine stolen Hahaha

Better get them armour cars heist plans drawn up Minir.
Prescript standard lens will set you back roughly $700, Bi-focals will be brutal.
They are, in my opinion the best though.
Still have my lenses just might have to break down and order new frames.
When you unload several hundred on sunglasses you tend to take care of them

Except my X, bought her a pair and she lost them 2 weeks later, grrr at the time.
Now I just hope whoever has them enjoys

Geez.

A loong time ago a friend GAVE me a pair of Serengetti Driver lenses in a Gucci frame.

Sweeeet glasses that he built himself (optician).

My stupid girlfriend at the time latched on to them and I said, OK but be CAREFUL with them.

She worked in a bar, and one day a lense popped out so she wrapped the lense up in a bar napkin and wedged it behind the counter.

Needless to say scrunched up napkins don't last too long in a bar/restaurant, and she could never understand why I was so pissed.

People that only buy cheap one's tic me off as they have no consideration for other people at all.

When you lose a Great Pair of Glasses some Slub out there is Very Happy

Bump for Humby!

Currently I have Pradas, Ray Bans and Serengeti.

Your eyes are important and bad glasses will screw them up...

A quick check is to hold them parallel to the ceiling that has fluorescent tube lights, if the tubes reflections are not straight, ANY distortion, don't buy them...
