Wow...that's down near dial up settings.

1500 for cable and bridged DSL, 1492 for PPPoE DSL.

The recommended settings have always worked best for my online gaming.

back in the win98 days when playing quake 1 online, i had a tweek that set my computers internet connection using my cable modem to 'near' dial up speeds but would get me a 0-5 ping to mPlayer servers. Not sure why this worked but i was quite hated :)

When i lower the mtu my clicking at a minigame in runescape called castle wars increased i got the flag faster then most of the players but i want to get it the flag faster then any1 else. I was wondering if i lower my mtu to atleast 25 will it help out?
Think the best MTU value would be the same size as your game packetsize.(including header)
This way your packets would get send imediately ,and don't line-up before getting send to the server.
But there are also proggies ,to set priority traffic and the new "Killer Nic" network card claims to do the same, i've read.
But i'm still experimenting with this myself ,and was hoping that there were a few Experts on this forum to help out.
