Wow...that's down near dial up settings.
1500 for cable and bridged DSL, 1492 for PPPoE DSL.
The recommended settings have always worked best for my online gaming.

Think the best MTU value would be the same size as your game packetsize.(including header)thekill101 wrote:hi, i need a little help , my mtu right now is 536 i put it this way because i heard lowering mtu help online games such as runescape i wanted to know if i lower my mtu any lower will it help me more or will it make no difference?
When i lower the mtu my clicking at a minigame in runescape called castle wars increased i got the flag faster then most of the players but i want to get it the flag faster then any1 else. I was wondering if i lower my mtu to atleast 25 will it help out?
This way your packets would get send imediately ,and don't line-up before getting send to the server.
But there are also proggies ,to set priority traffic and the new "Killer Nic" network card claims to do the same, i've read.
But i'm still experimenting with this myself ,and was hoping that there were a few Experts on this forum to help out.
