Comp phone?
Hey guys,
I was just wondering (while hovering over my lousy caller ID phone) if theres a program that'll work with my modem to answer phone calls & show caller ID. This would work out much better if everytime a call came in, a window would pop up saying who it is. Then I wouldn't have to get up :D ...

Make Your Own System Restore Discs
Hey everyone, just wondering how the system restore discs for Sonys, HPs, Compaqs, and stuff are made. How can I make these, without adding programs like norton. My VAIO has the restore discs with no backup programs showing in the install. Anyone know how these are made and how I can make one?

Goal: Install windows on a computer I am building for a friend, keeping costs down.
I was hoping I could buy the pre-install, which I thought was full windows (w/o cd key - which would then activate it as full windows) and then buy a few licenses. This won't work? Doesn't the COA have a product key ...

Was looking on Pricewatch for the best deal on XP and got very confused in the process...
One of the descriptions was...

Nope, no overclocking. It's funny you mention that though because my friend has this 800mhz compaq that he bought as a display model a couple years back (nicknamed the "circus box"). Hes using the ugliest monitor you've ever seen, it's a 15" that looks like its left ...

Looking to build budget system for a friend
What kind of motherboard do you guys think I should go with? I was thinking onboard audio, video, and lan.
Was thinking DFI or Biostar
Haven't really heard much about either, except a friend told me Biostars are known for catching on fire :rotfl:

Vertical license for minors?
In the past couple months states (MI) have been issuing vertical licenses to minors...I got mine a couple weeks after this started in the summer, but it was the traditional horizontal one. Since the deadline to trade them (for free) in is almost up, anybody know if it's the law to have them?

Best AIM Plug-in?
I was a big fan of DeadAIM until you had to pay. I liked the unlimited logging that it did along with tabbed windows, unlike AIM+ which could only record so much before the window had to be cleared...then it didn't even get the last couple lines before it cleared.

Light Gamer Video Card?
Hey I'm looking for a VC that should be good for some light gaming and stuff. Right now i've got this 4MB card that has been recycled and wouldn't mind getting rid of the lag it carries with it.
I don't really want to spend more than $65, I think I should be able to get a good enough card for this ...
