In the past couple months states (MI) have been issuing vertical licenses to minors...I got mine a couple weeks after this started in the summer, but it was the traditional horizontal one. Since the deadline to trade them (for free) in is almost up, anybody know if it's the law to have them?
Seems like they woulda sent me one if they wanted me to have it that bad...

Never heard that term before...in not thinking it was some license permitting youth to grow...I hit up Google.
Huh...it literally is a license laid out vertically, instead of the usual horizontal one we're used to.
Read about it below,

You'll have to check your state laws. I don't know where "West" is, so I can't help you out.
They have those in Ohio right now.

Yes, You need one. Your's will no longer be accepted. It's portrait style not landscape to avoid confusion for under 21 years old.

Beats me, but just claim you're an illegal alien and you'll get one straightaway.

The redesigned format is being issued to residents under 21 who receive new licenses or IDs, as well as renewals or replacements. Licenses with the standard horizontal design are still valid for minors who already possess them.

Okay well since that last quote says they are still valid, and today was the last day to do this without paying, i'm just gonna stick with the traditional one...I kind of like being one of the last with that style anyway =)
