Make Your Own System Restore Discs

Post by Shilly »

Hey everyone, just wondering how the system restore discs for Sonys, HPs, Compaqs, and stuff are made. How can I make these, without adding programs like norton. My VAIO has the restore discs with no backup programs showing in the install. Anyone know how these are made and how I can make one?

Ghost can do what you want to do. You will have to install windows, and set it up the way you like it, with all settings/programs etc. Then Ghost (make an image) of the hard drive, and burn it to CD (all through Ghost)
When/if you have problems, just run Ghost and point it to your CD with the image file on it

If you want an automated restore cd, you will have to write a small batch file using Ghost commandline options. If done correctly it will boot the CD, and go right into burning the image back to the hard drive. For safety reasons, have it ask first.

I'd eitehr Get Norton 2003 Pro or the new 2004 ( Is that out yet ? )

You can get the OEM of 2003 Pro with A year of virus updates for Under $10 ... Search for it , through google/Amazon.

I think Nisoft is where I got it , and the first time it came ASAP , The second time quick E-mail to the company and it got right to me after a screw up in Shipping.

Ghost is Great , Drive image will do the trick too.

If you have a second Hard drive or even a second partition , I'd highly reccomend doing image backups to those as they are much faster and convenient and you dont' need 13 Discs.

I do a back up to Disk once every week or two , then a DVD Backup once every month or so ( Speaking of shich I need to do another one soon. )
