Re: Questions about Ping

What type of internet connection do you have, what geographic area? Ping/latency depends on the distance between you and a server. It should generally be between 20ms and up to 100ms for very distant servers. Anything over that indicates either a satellite connection (not LEO), very distant overload...

Windows 10+ can be set to auto-delete old files in the "Downloads" folder.
It is under Start Menu > Settings > search for "Storage Sense" > "Change how Storage Sense frees up space"

Seems like Yahoo mail issue. The choice to "save" vs. "print" is usually server-side.

Re: HELP Yahoo Mail, Chrome & PDF Attachments

Not sure about Yahoo mail, but in general, if you click on a PDF attachment you should be able to see/open the PDF in Chrome. Once the PDF is opened in Chrome, the upper-right corner contains both download and print buttons as a top bar inside the "page", together with zoom/rotate options.

Re: This is the last TP-Link Router I'll ever own

Sounds frustrating. I don't like some of the newer routers' interfaces that have been simplified for phone/app setup and use either. I don't use Access Lists though, with the limited range and firmware updates I am not worried much of neighboring kids breaking into the router and using my Wi-Fi, heh.

Interesting that BBR caused this, thanks for following up. There used to be a an issue where changing the TCP Auto-tuning algorithm from "normal" to "experimental" caused similar issues with LAN shares and Windows Servers' local network access, but in your case this is something ...

If you're already using a WiFi 6 router I don't see the point... Maybe if it is bogged down with many clients and the CPU is running at 100% load or something, other than that I wouldn't upgrade.

Re: Basic question about bandwidth distribution on WiFi

Maybe.. You'd have to test, as it dependa on the Wifi generation (some routers are better at bandwidth sharing, beamforming some have faster hardware, etc.). In general, newer routers should be better at distributing the bandwidth between clients, and QoS settings may help in mitigating the effects ...

Re: Basic question about bandwidth distribution on WiFi

If both clients use Wi-Fi, they will split the Wi-Fi max speed (500 Mbps). In addition, the quoted router max Wi-Fi speed includes both downstream and upstream traffic, plus protocol overhead, so it will likely reach 80% of its' rated max speed. If one of the clients is using Ethernet, then you can ...

Re: Change Wireless Router?

Newer generation routers work better, as in WiFi 6 (802.11 ax) will work better than WiFi 5 (802.11 ac). Also, usually 2.4GHz works better for wall penetration over 5GHz. You can try moving your current router a bit closer, or higher. If it has external antennae, they should be perpendicular to the ...

Water down in FL is pretty hard, I do use a whole house water softener. It reduces the TDS and makes water softer. Firefox is fine if you like it, most of the main browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) are good. "Brave" is also an option.
I don't like the Edge bloated home page and settings either, but you can turn all that off in the settings and change your home/new tab page to some simpler search engine.

For the RAM: I like G.Skill, but I always prefer the 1.20-1.25v modules rather than 1.35v. The lower voltage variants don't run as hot, and I think are better quality chips. They're usually very similarly priced. CPU: You're getting about 22k CPUMark score, it's a good processor for a budget build, ...
