The DNS servers should fail over, the clients will if they are configured with both the primary and secondary DNS server addresses. If you are using Active Directory there is a setting and I can't recall exactly where, but it has to do with the client resolving DNS to three options. They are roughly ...

Linksys Issue
I have had 2 different linksys routers, and both required me to unplug, and cold boot them approx. once a week. I think they have a problem clearing the Router Cache. Anyway, once a week is tolerable. Once a day, is not. If you have contacted tech support they will instruct you on getting a ...

AD Server Operators
I have a test network at home I use for ahh.... testing stuff. Anyway, It's a W2000 Native Mode network running one DC, and 2 member servers. I have spent too much time setting up my moc company (ie: users, shares, GPO's, Groups, OU's etc.). In my quest to make managing permissions easier, I created ...

Get HELP
Since it's a hotel, most traffic is between the LAN and the Internet, and thus the Netgear Router is most likely the bottleneck. Also your problems are intermittent and not localized to one drop. However the only way to rule out the network media (CAT5) is to have the lines certified, and run a ...

Connect your PC directly through the modem, and download the firmware upgrade to a folder (c:\mydocuments). Reconnect the PC to the router and hold down the reset switch on the router until the Diagnostic light comes on. Set IP on PC to 192.168.1.5, with subnet 255.255.255.0, and logon to router ...

isolate
Since most of your traffic is straight through to and from the internet, and there isn't that much intranet traffic, the bottleneck should be the router (ISP connection). I am assuming that when you say that "the network crashes" that it is locking up the switches. This should be one of two problems ...

LANguard
I am assuming you are referring to GFI LANguard. No, it is not a firewall. It is more like a network auditing sofware. It scans your network for possible security risks, and reports each one. The purchased version will patch certain vendor software.
