WOW... 1.66GHz Atom with DDR2 SODIMM, Dual LAN and HDD, roughly $20:drool:

I have this small aluminum Red Cross medical container that the MBD-X7SPE-HF-O and ST3160310CS will fit into nicely and I can easily make an I/O shield for it with attached 7v, 60mm intake and exhaust fans. I have a $72 ...

The RV082, a little over what I want to spend, but it's perfect for what I need it for. I may just have to put a little more together. If I don't go that way, I did DL Astaro last night. If it comes to it, I may just use that, though I'll have to take on the learning curve to get the games to work ...

. I'm not a fan of double NAT'ing routers...and putting that Netgear behind the DLink..that's really all you're doing. Ok!

Unless there are PCs which are threats behind the DLink, but in front of the Netgear.... Yea, this is part of the issue.
I have two house mates with PC's I can not ...

Looking to build new network, please give your input!

So I'm tired of this BEFSR41. It crashes every other day. It's not secure. It's outdated. I could go on! I don't want to go back to using my 2.2GHz AMD as a pFsense firewall/router, cause that sucked up power!

I'm looking at getting a new router. I had the DGL-4100, before my housemates cat peed on ...

I thought the monitor is what really gives you your true FPS count, or I could be wrong, but wouldn't an 8800 only reach 90fps if the monitors refresh rate frequency tops out or is more stable at -say- 90hz @ 1280x1040. Which seems great to me for counter strike! If you experiencing some jerkiness ...

From one user to another-
I've had my fair share of issues with Linksys products.
I've had to take three router, new-out of box, back due to manufacturing errors. The customer service(IT) for Linksys is a joke and more than a few times I've seen the product miss-represented on the product package ...

Thanks for your replies-

I'm building a new comp right now, which I wont be putting a NIC in.
I'll be using it on my old comp once the new build is finished.
I want to use a NIC for my Barton 2600+ single core proc.
The thing I'm going to do is use my old comp for serving LAN games to the house as well as storing movies for ...

Question bout PC NIC-

If using a PCI gigabit NIC card, would using such a card take the network stack processes off the main processor(CPU), or does the PCI NIC card just direct the network protocals through the PCI-bus to the main processor?

I guess in short, 'do gigabit PCI NIC cards act as NPU's[network processing ...

Might be great for just having computers connected, but is straight garbage for video gamers. Just ask the thousands of gamers who have bought one just to end up being frustrated by it's bad WAN connection that is not very fixable!
And to top it off, Linksys does not care, or they would provide some ...

It all depends on how the router/gateway is set up. And since you didn't mention it in your post, you most likely wont receive help!

NetGear is not that great for routing/gateway needs!

Cisco is subsidized by Linksys. They most likely contract through the same manufacturers on their router builds. I would say "stay away".
Not trying for a ban on product placement, but I now have a D-*ink, all I do is video game. Having my D-*ink connected to the internet I can get speed clocks of ...

It's not that your doing anything wrong, it's your Linksys. I've been through three diff models. I know networking, this companies products are garbage.
I would never suggest any of the Linksys models to a customer!
