Re: Chrome not to support uBlock Origin?

Sure. I'm recommending the browsers I did because they still support MV2 and thus uBlock Origin, full power version rather than the Lite.

If you're talking Chromium-based browsers, Vivaldi is the highest one I can recommend, so absolutely seconded on that.

Re: I need a new long term backup HDD

I'm going to be consolidating and culling information that I have on 4 separate HDDs. I am probably going to end up with just a little under 2tb of data after most photo duplicates are eliminated etc, so I'm looking at a 4tb drive.

I'm guessing that a mechanical HDD is the best way to go for long ...

Re: Chrome not to support uBlock Origin?

Honestly with MV3 rolled out, I can't push things like Floorp or LibreWolf hard enough. (I'd say Firefox but they've rolled out AI in the browser, so, eff 'em.) You end up with a lot more stability that way and the more powerful filtering that uBlock Origin normal can provide rather than the ...

Re: Is everyone ready for Christmas?

I sure am! Because of the puppy, we're doing a garland on the fireplace mantle and hanging little ornaments from it, along with the stockings. Prepping to have a quiet Christmas, just a lovely dinner and then some mulled wine and hot cocoa with music. Not really going for the gifts this year; we ...

It sure has been a hot minute. Again. I keep telling myself that I'll come here and hang out again and then Something(tm) happens that takes away from that, over and over. The cycle of life, new jobs, new relationships, and (as of about half a year ago) a new house. Let alone the new puppy, and ...

Hi Paft, thanks for the insight.

I am no economist, but the current rate of US Debt increase seems unsustainable either. Interest payments on the debt are one of the biggest expenses, estimated close to $400 billion this fiscal year, or 6.8% of all federal outlays. Our debt (as percentage of GDP ...

Well this is concerning. We moved away from any sort of asset-backing standard a long while ago (the end of the Bretton Woods system in the early 70s) for a good reason; it seems like folks pushing for a return to it are refusing to look at history and just want to return to bad ideas. Especially ...

Twitter, yes, through the third party Nitter. That generates a native RSS feed, no RSS Bridge required.

Discord - Unsure. It's possible that a bot exists to turn a Discord channel (or set of channels) into an RSS feed; I haven't looked too much into it. I'd be wary about that considering how fast ...

I'm not too keen on the current economic state, especially with investments. I got into this quite a bit. Depositing into my TSP (government retirement) is fine and all, but it's nice to have a small cushion account that gets a couple percent of my salary per check. It's not huge, but it's nice to have just in case.
