Saw this posted on another site and thought it might be a good one for some of the members here.

I may have to move to uBlock Origin Lite (MV3 support) once this happens... I don't see a warning in my Chrome current version 127.0.6533.89

Edit: Never mind, I see the warning in the "Extensions" page.

I switched over to uBlock Origin Lite and I've noticed that when watching YouTube on my PC the ads at the beginning of most videos will not load. After the allotted time for the ad the "Skip" button comes on the screen. I click it and the video starts. Although I still have to wait for the unseen video to time out, at least I don't have to watch them.

Interesting.. Does that also happen with ads in the middle of videos?
I seem to be getting YouTube ads with the traditional uBlock Origin extension.

I'll have to take a closer look about the ads in the middle. What is happening now... the screen will go black with a "buffering" icon on the screen. Then, if it's a short enough ad it will just go right into the video. If the ad is longer than something like 10-15 seconds the screen remains black but the "Skip" icon shows up on the screen and works as expected.

Honestly with MV3 rolled out, I can't push things like Floorp or LibreWolf hard enough. (I'd say Firefox but they've rolled out AI in the browser, so, eff 'em.) You end up with a lot more stability that way and the more powerful filtering that uBlock Origin normal can provide rather than the workaround of Lite.

You are talking about browsers though, not ad-blocking extensions.

From what I read:
Firefox-based: Floorp, LibreWolf
Chromium-based: Brave, Vivaldi (streaming services and workspaces may be a bit better supported, if you care)

Sure. I'm recommending the browsers I did because they still support MV2 and thus uBlock Origin, full power version rather than the Lite.

If you're talking Chromium-based browsers, Vivaldi is the highest one I can recommend, so absolutely seconded on that.

Yeah with uBlock being disco'd from Chrome....I did shift to uBlock Lite...but like Easto said above....watching YouTube videos...uBlock Lite only blocks the ad video....so you get to stare at a black screen for the length of the video.

So I tried Ghostery...and it does not do that, you click a video to watch it and it plays right away.

Interesting, I'll have to try Ghostery.

I've been using Ghostery for over a week, and I like it better than uBlock Origin Lite. It skips Youtube ads (mostly), rather than having to wait for the time to pass. The only small gripe I have is the Off button, I have to go through a pull-down menu to turn it off for banking and trusted sites, also the icon is not as easy to decipher whether the thing is On or Off for a particular site, with the badges on top of the icon. Anyway, great find, thanks!

I just loaded this up. So far this thing is awesome. Just not having to sit through all those YT commercials before every video has me sold.

After playing with this for the last week I seem to be running into some glitches. I can't say if they're due to the extension, but I'm starting to get some hesitancy and stuttering when opening certain sites/pages. Nothing major, but there is a change in the force. I'm going to have to experiment and see if it is this extension or something else in my rig. With that said, nothing else has changed in my setup that would help me pinpoint this glitch.

Haven't noticed that, but haven't looked too closely either.
