How to prevent Windows automatic restart after updates?

There is no apparent easy way to prevent Windows from automatically restarting eventually to finish updates from the Settings dialogues. To completely disable this feature and avoid losing unsaved open files, follow these steps using group policy editor:

1. Click the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
2. Type "gpedit.msc" (and click Enter) to open the Group Policy Editor.
3. Navigate to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
4. Double-click on "Configure Automatic Updates" to open the settings.
5. Set to either "Disable", or Enable 2/3 to prevent automatic Windows restarts.
