The 4000-R1 is a wireless gateway with one 10/100/1000Base-T WAN port and four 10/100/1000Base-T LAN ports. It supports advanced MIMO technology, enhancing the throughput and coverage range significantly.

The integrated AP complies with IEEE 802.11n (draft) standard, providing wireless transmission speeds of up to 150Mbps. It can operate in several different modes, such as AP, AP Client, WDS and AP+WDS. A WPS button allows for easy wireless security configuration.

The router provides VPN pass-through for IPSec, L2TP and PPTP. It features a built-in firewall to protect the network against Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.
