T-Mobile has 5G coverage in all 50 states

T-Mobile has announced a new partnership that will allow T-Mobile customers with 5G smartphones in Anchorage, Alaska to access its 5G network. This will make T-Mobile the first wireless provider to offer 5G coverage in all 50 states.

"The massive nationwide 5G network we're building and expanding by the day – paired with important partnerships like this – extend our 5G leadership over the competition and deliver meaningful 5G experiences to our customers," said Neville Ray, president of technology at T-Mobile. "Now, our customers with 5G devices can keep 5G service when in Alaska. And to GCI customers, welcome to nationwide 5G!"

While this does not mean T-Mobile has blanket coverage in all the states, the company has at least some presence in each of the 50 states, which T-Mobile claims is the first telecom to do so. Most coverage is limited in the cities to certain areas, meaning it would depend on what part of a city a user resides in or visits to access 5G coverage.

Providing a nationwide 5G network was one of the company's selling points in successfully securing approval of the Sprint merger with the Justice Department and FCC.
