By Christmas, Chicagoans will have a new wireless service called Clear that's as fast as your cable modem or Internet access at work.

Though no specific date has been announced for the rollout, the so-called 4G super-high-speed service will charge subscribers roughly $40 to $45 a month to get unlimited high-speed data on any computer or Wi-Fi-enabled smart phone. "This is a paradigm shift. It's a data service that acts like a high-speed pipe, and you can connect PCs, netbooks, laptops and Wi-Fi devices to it," said Bill Morrow, CEO of parent company Clearwire, in an interview Thursday. Chicago will be Clear's 15th market nationwide.
