Russian anti-virus company Dr. Web, confirmed the existence of a new trojan called "Trojan.Yontoo.1," which downloads and installs an adware plugin on unsuspecting Mac user's machines. The trojan can get onto users' Mac in multiple ways. Criminals have so far used movie trailer pages that prompt users to install a browser plugin, a media player, a video quality enhancement program, or a download accelerator. In other words, the usual schemes we've seen on Windows. Once launched, the Trojan generates a dialog box that offers to install Free Twit Tube. After users presses "continue," the Trojan downloads the Yontoo adware plugin for Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. The Yontoo browser plugin is published by Yontoo LLC, which describes itself as a US-based software company that "creates virtual layers that can be edited to create the appearance of having made changes to the underlying website". While this Trojan targets Mac OS X users, Dr. Web notes that a similar Trojan is also spreading that targets Windows systems. Read more -here-
