Intel's Thunderbolt to hit PCs in mid-20122011-12-28 10:20 by DanielaTags: Intel, Thunderbolt
Intel announced that it is going to launch its Thunderbolt technology into desktop PCs by April 2012. The Thunderbolt is next generation I/O technology which offers speeds up to 10 Gbps that is 10 times faster than the recently released USB 3.0 and 20 times faster than the popular USB 2.0. Every thunderbolt device will be having 1 input and 1 output port which avoids the need to have multiple ports in the system. Several peripheral devices can be chained together with only one attached to PC. Originally known as Light Peak, the technology was developed by Intel in cooperation with Apple earlier this year. It currently powers Apple's products like iMac and the MacBook series. Sony and Asus are expected to be the first companies to produce thunderbolt compatible PC products in 2012. Gigabyte technology is also expected to launch Thunderbolt featured motherboard in April 2012. Read more -here-
