![]() Gmail to get new design and features in coming weeks2018-04-12 17:04 by DanielaTags: Gmail
In an email to its G Suite customers, Google announced on Wednesday that the company plans to launch a new Gmail design. The email was intended to prepare employees tasked with managing companies' G Suite apps — Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc. — to answer questions about the redesign as it's rolled out to personal accounts, meaning we could expect it to look noticeably different. "We're working on some major updates to Gmail (they're still in draft phase). We need a bit more time to compose ourselves, so can't share anything yet — archive this for now, and we'll let you know when it's time to hit send," the company said in a statement. In addition to a fresh design, the company also listed some of the new features. The interface will contain several new elements that will make Gmail users’ web experience more aligned with Google Inbox for mobile. Perhaps the biggest change to Gmail will be plugins to other Google apps such as Calendar, which would save users the hassle of clicking back and forth between screens. Clicking on one of the icons in the thin vertical bar in the top right corner appears to pull the respective app in, while still giving the user a clear view of the whole inbox. Google's Gmail redesign will be available in the coming weeks as an early access program for G Suite customers and personal Gmail accounts. Google is looking to test critical Chrome extensions, to ensure the new Gmail experience is compatible before it's widely available. Read more -here-
