Garmin outage shuts down fitness service, call centers2020-07-24 18:34 by DanielaTags: Garmin, outage, ransomware
Fitness watch and GPS maker Garmin Ltd. shut down its website and global call centers on Thursday (July 23) following a ransomware attack, The Guardian reported. "We are currently experiencing an outage that affects Garmin.com and Garmin Connect," the company announced on Twitter and the Garmin Connect website. "This outage also affects our call centers, and we are currently unable to receive any calls, emails or online chats." Garmin hasn't said if any customer data was compromised. It's not usually an element of ransomware attacks, but recent incidents, such as the one on Travelex, have seen customer information stolen alongside file encryption. Garmin Connect is a tool available through its website or a mobile app allowing owners of its wearables, including smartwatches, to track and analyze fitness activities. Users can also compete with friends and share challenges. Read more -here-
