Dish Network Corp., the second-largest U.S. satellite-television provider, will introduce a nationwide broadband Internet service Monday called DishNet that's aimed at rural customers. Dish said dishNET is "ideal" for those who live in regions that lack adequate broadband options. With dishNET, residents will get 4G-level speeds that are 50 percent faster than typical residential broadband connections, according to Dish. The new service will rely on a satellite from sister company EchoStar Corp., sources familiar with the project said last month. Dish and EchoStar can handle about 2 million new Internet customers with the service, one of the sources said. The EchoStar 17 satellite was launched into orbit July 5. Pricing for DishNET starts at $39.99 per month for 5 Mbps download/1 Mbps upload speeds and 10GB of data, when bundled with a Dish programming package and a two-year contract. Upgrading to 10/1 Mbps and 20GB of data will cost $49.99 per month. Read more -here-
