Comcast really does block BitTorrent traffic after all

2007-10-20 10:36 by

For a few months Comcast has been the subject of scattered reports that say it throttles BitTorrent traffic.

TorrentFreak said in August that Comcast was surreptitiously interfering with file transfers by posing as one party and then, essentially, hanging up the phone. But when we contacted Comcast at the time, it flatly denied doing it.

Thanks to tests reported Friday by the Associated Press, however, it's clear that Comcast is actively interfering with peer-to-peer networks even if relatively small files are being transferred.

Comcast and other ISP's are against "net neutrality".If you don't like companies telling you, or regulating, what you can access on the internet and what programs use can use to access the internet, visit this web site: http://www.savetheinternet.com/

This has been going on for months..nothing new but lame. They can't even keep a stable network as a whole no wonder they do this to help out traffic..next they will throttle flash media and the youtube fans will be going off.

I've had Comcast for years, and I have no problem out of them.
I know I down load over 20GB's a month...go figure.

Been with comcast for a while, low ping, and the service has only got faster and fast since they took over in my area. Im able to download torrents at about 350-400KB a sec, thats fine for me.

It's not the download speed that's affected, it's the uploading of torrents that Comcast seems to be interfering with. Makes it had to share...

Friend of a friend has 25+ Gigs/month with Comcast. If you're on thin ice, try forcing protocol encryption and denying incoming legacy connections with your downloader.
