AT&T to Offer Unlimited Prepaid Plans

Starting June 26, AT&T will offer its prepaid GoPhone customers a new $50 plan that includes unlimited voice minutes, SMS and Internet access. Only GoPhone customers having feature phones will be able to use the unlimited plan. AT&T prepaid customers with smartphones can get unlimited talk and text for $50 but must pay extra for mobile data.

"As summer approaches, consumers want a plan that connects them with their loved ones in the U.S. and abroad," said Judy Cavalieri, AT&T vice president.

AT&T's new plan may be considered as response to Verizon, which in April introduced its own $50 prepaid plan. However, Verizon doesn't offer web in its prepaid services.
