PCMag have released their "Fastest Mobile Networks" report for the 10th year in a row. The tech site conducted its carrier mobile network speed test by visiting 30 cities and 25 states and "running 60,000 speed tests to determine the fastest mobile network nationwide.

With a top overall score of 97, AT&T appears to be the clear winner. Verizon came in 2nd with a score of 94, while T-Mobile and Sprint trailed with scores of 91 and 82, respectively.

AT&T's national average speed has ticked upward from just over 40Mbps in 2018 to almost 70Mbps this year. AT&T won or tied for first place in 15 of the 30 cities tested, and it tied or came out on top in all rural regions. AT&T was on top overall in the northwest, southwest, north central, and northeast, while Verizon won in the south central region and T-Mobile came out ahead in the southeast.

All carriers saw an increase, but AT&T's is the most significant. Sprint does have fast speeds in some places, but its reliability, ping, and coverage drag it down. T-Mobile has the highest maximum speeds by a substantial margin, but it's not widespread enough to beat AT&T or Verizon, both of which have higher averages and reliability.
