Apple plans to show information about COVID-19 testing locations across the country to users through the Apple Maps app. According to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple has already rolled out a portal through which hospitals and other healthcare providers can register their COVID-19 testing center. After the testing center has been approved, 9to5Mac reports that it will begin showing up on Apple Maps for users searching in the area. The locations will be demarcated using a special icon - a red medical glyph - and a banner. It's not just a list of geographic locations, though. Apple is also gathering data on the nature of the testing being carried out, and what protocols might be in place for deciding whether people are eligible for a test. This new feature is part of Apple's continued effort to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier this month the company said it'll produce a million face shields for medical workers. Last week, the company announced a partnership with Google to build a Bluetooth-based system for contact tracing of coronavirus. The tech would use mobile phones to notify a person when they are in close contact with someone who is infected. Read more -here-
